Experiences from Extras in the UK

Postby johncarter » Mon Jan 18, 2010 10:50 am

Heh heh... you gotta love the as-it-happens twitteriffic lifestyle we now lead.

We keep getting fun stuff from the casting company, Universal Extras in the UK. Most of it's pretty vague but fun nonetheless. We're getting stuff nearly on a daily basis as the production is in full swing over there. So, unless it's BIG news, I've decided to put it all here as it happens. Here's a few of the most recent as per when this thread was started. As more are found, they will be added to the thread.

Working on Site For the massive Disney blockbuster John Carter of Mars we are looking for males to pretend to be workers on an archaeological dig set on Mars!

New Dates - I Am A WARRIOR! For the action adventure John Carter of Mars we need MALE WARRIORS to help john fight the 12ft barbarians! Filming Dates are 15th Feb to 19th Feb and 4th March to 9th April. (You must be available for all dates if you wish to apply).

New Dates - I Am A FEMALE WARRIOR! For the action adventure John Carter of Mars we need FEMALE WARRIORS to help john fight the 12ft barbarians! Filming Dates are 15th Feb to 19th Feb and 4th March to 9th April. (You must be available for all dates if you wish to apply).

I am or I look Mediterranean For the all action feature film John Carter of Mars we are starting to cast men and women of all ages who look Mediterranean for a variety or roles!

This isnt Kansas Anymore! The Disney Pixar partnership is about to embark on creating the mammoth feature film John Carter of Mars.

02-08-2010 Red Heads Needed!

Postby johncarter » Tue Feb 09, 2010 4:09 pm

From Universal Extras:
Red Heads Needed For the massive Disney blockbuster John Carter of Mars we are looking for males who have Red and Ginger hair!

Yeah, that's right. Apparently, the red men of barsoom also have red hair :) Naw, it's probably for the "wild west" component of the film. I'm guessing maybe weasly looking bad guys? (not to say all red heads are weasly looking... um... I'll just shut up now)

Maybe, but there were red-haired Barsoomians. When John Carter and Dejah Thoris are exploring the ruins of Korad, they find wall murals showing the Orovars, the forerunners of the red race, who had light or white skin and auburn or blond hair. Later they show up in Llana of Gathol. There may be some sort of scene showing them as they lived in ancient times as depicted in the mural. They still exist in Lothar and Horz (Llana) but that is pretty far removed from the first three books to have direct interaction. However, from other bits and pieces of information that have come out, anything may be possible.

I was a Zodangan civilian, quite fkin amazing to be part of something incredibly huge and absolutely wicked, John Carter fans won't be disappointed at all. I was having a squiz around as somebody mentioned that in the book everyone was naked.. still can't find that.. and Taylor fans .. woah, could get lost in those eyes of his (lol, taylor & mark - I found my nuts but I ate them.. lol) dear o dear.. stunt day last day for me - I offered my services of cartwheels and rolly polly's but it really wasn't up to scratch.. oh welllll :D Wicked experience!

Thanks mxjohnstone for the check in! We appreciate anything anyone can say about the experience of working in the production! Glad to hear more reassurance that us die-hard fans of the books won't be disappointed! So far, we (JCOM staff here) haven't heard anything we haven't liked! Sounds like Mr. Stanton is doing a bang up job out there! Glad you enjoyed it, and if you can share anything else, let us know!

Well you might have not heard anything you haven't liked. This JCOM fan though-shape shifting Matai Shang is all I'm going to say.
