A fan writes in that Disney has taken over the parking lot near his home in Dorset England. He says that caves abound in the area along the coast south of the point in the GPS location, so maybe this is where JC begins his journey to Mars? If so, that cave will become legendary! He also said that helicopters and the Coast guard have become involved. Lastly he said old quarries are everywhere as well (see just northwest of the GPS point). This news make it even more confusing to figure if they are shooting Earth or Mars... enjoy

Looks very likely they are filming at the old quarries at winspit.

Here are the known set locations near Delta, Utah:

Primary Site on Tule Valley Hardpan. Lots of production equipment located here. Cranes, lights, commisary trucks, etc. right on the salt flat.
N 38° 58.522', W 113° 22.275'

Approximate Tule Valley Island set location. A very noticable set was located on the side of the rocky "island" in the middle of the salt flat. The set was a sort of low, stone building that matched the natural rock around it very well.

Other possible Tule Valley Island set location. We didn't realize until later that a set was located here. There is a road of some sort leading uphill and a building very low, almost on the flat. Those features aren't normally there, so we decided later it was associated with the production.

New Environs Site on Tule Valley Hardpan. A sign stated this is the New Environs set. We could see some sort of orange colored bunch of bushes or reeds that have been placed on the salt flat. In the distance, near an existing pond, were a couple of dark containers that are new to the area and probably associated with the production.

I did send photos of these locations. We talked to someone out there, who indicated these are the initial Mars sites. Apparently Willem Dafoe's character will stride across the flat towards Carter.

I also heard this morning another site may be used southwest of these, on the other side of the mountain range. It is a very rocky labyrinth in that location. I'll try to confirm that site this week.

That sounds like the first meeting of John Carter (Taylor Kitsch) and Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) when Carter first wakes up on Mars

Just been reading in my daughter's school newsletter that they have used her school as a location shoot. She forgot to tell me!

It was filmed at half term, so all the pupils were away. Some fantastic Victorian brick colonades, so I am not sure how it is fit into the story.
