Audio Interview with John Carter of Mars Concept Design Supervisor, Ian Mccaig 07/23/2010

Ian Mccaig, concept artist for many, many films, including Star Wars: Episodes I-III, Harry Potter-Goblet of Fire, Terminator 2, and a host of others, gives an insightful interview with the folks at sidebarnation.

In this lengthy interview, Mccaig offers articulate insights into the process of art from concept to creation. He also of course, talks a bit about his work with John Carter of Mars. A project he has worked on four times, starting with the Paramount era of the film with directors, Kerry Conran and Jon Favreau.

He speaks on the film's production history starting with the work of Bob Clampett in the 1930s, the influence of the work of Frank Frazetta during the Paramount days, and recently, his own work at Disney, trying to get just the right shade of red for Dejah Thoris.
