   Wow, this really is the middle of nowhere... but what an amazing nowhere it is! You simply wouldn't believe the amazing topography I saw as I flew over Utah after several connecting flights from Louisiana. Unfortunately, this is the only photo I snapped that looked even halfway decent. What you're seeing is the snow covered peaks of the La Sal mountain range just east of Moab. The plane was flying into Moab in the evening and the sun was setting quickly. It was nearly dark by the time we arrived at Canyonlands airport where my taxi driver was cheerfully waiting. Unfortunately, because it was so dark, I was unable to take photos of what the driver assured me was "stunningly beautiful" scenery. I'll get plenty of that tomorrow. In theory, from rumors we've heard and from what the local newspapers have reported, Disney should be shooting up here next. Starting this weekend then through the better part of next week. I intend on staying most of that time to... well, as I've been putting it, "see what I can see". We have a pretty good idea of where the 4-5 sets are located (see our Known Set Locations Map). No. I haven't officially been invited up here. But I'm pretty sure as I stated on the April Fools Video we did, they knew I'd be coming eventually. As such, I completely intend NOT BE A BOTHER to anyone. So no, I won't be skirting around security fences or stalking movie stars. I will however be interviewing locals, snapping photos where I can, and hoping desperately to be invited to the set. Hopefully I can drop a few business cards off at a production office somewhere. :) In my free time, I intend of enjoying the wonders of this crazy beautiful place as this is also my dream vacation. My dear wife and children have wonderously allowed me to go on this little excursion without them (it was too cost prohibitive to take the whole family) and I intend to enjoy myself while I'm here. I'm an outdoorsy kinda guy and am looking forward to hiking and tearin' up the countryside in a Grizzly ATV!! So... keep watching this page for updates and photos! Unfortunately, these posts will be a day late. Everything I gather during the day will be edited and posted for the following morning. But, feel free to follow me on twitter if you've just gotta have up-to-the-minute info! |
